The below video shows how to lock the WTX Sliding Clamp properly.

Sliding Clamp is Stuck

Here are a few reasons the WTX sliding clamp may be stuck.

  • The internal mechanism is jammed due to too much friction locking it in place.
  • Dust gets into the mechanism causing the plastic pieces to stop sliding against each other.
  • The mechanism has been locked for an extended amount of time.

The solution (video below)

Unlocking a stuck WTX sliding clamp is simple but difficult in certain situations.

  • Option 1:
    • Place the clamp edge on its back/top, so the sliding clamp faces up. Grip the orange part in one hand and the grey part in the other, then pull in opposite directions. This will cause the clamp to release with a "pop."
  • Option 2:
    • Holding the clamp edge with one hand so that the end opposite the clamping handle faces away from you, grip the orange section, and pull towards you with a jerking motion. This sudden force will usually cause it to release
  • Option 3:
    • Use this option if the other two are unsuccessful. This is for the clamps that are incredibly stuck. Using a large flathead screwdriver, push it into the space between the grey and orange parts of the clamp. If there is no gap, you may need to force it in. Once you have it inserted, rotate the screwdriver to release the clamp
